HOW SUSTAINABLE IS THE BED 2.0?

One of the most important criteria in designing our products is their sustainability. Our goal is to offer you alternatives to conventional furniture that – alongside several other advantages – are especially environmentally friendly. But what exactly does "sustainable" mean in this context?

The environmental impact of our Bed 2.0

Chiara Fahrthofer, a student in the Master's program "Eco Design" at the University of Applied Sciences Wiener Neustadt, took a close look at our Bed 2.0 as part of her Master's thesis* and compared its environmental impact with that of a conventional bed. She examined everything from raw material extraction, production, and usage to waste management.

The result: The Bed 2.0 has a significantly lower environmental impact compared to a conventional bed. Its carbon footprint — and thus its contribution to global warming — is 280 times smaller, it consumes 8,000 times less energy, and the transport is four times more climate-friendly due to the low weight. We are genuinely a bit overwhelmed by this result and proud to have developed such an amazing product that combines functionality, design, and sustainability.

OUR CARDBOARD FURNITURE...

...are produced in a particularly resource-efficient way. They consist of 54% to 80% recycled material, are 100% recyclable, and do not generate any waste during production, as all cardboard scraps are returned to the recycling loop.

Unfortunately, our furniture cannot completely avoid fresh paper fibers, as this would compromise stability. Their share is around 20% to 46% and comes from sustainable forestry.
